Abstragender is a fancy way of saying Gender Non-Conforming defined as "a gender that's related to the abstract concept of another gender (ex: abstraboy or abstragirl)."¹

Abstragender was coined on November 16, 2011² by anonymous via ask-pride-color-schemes.³ The flag was created on November 3, 2019 by tumblr user mogai-moth.⁴
