Ellipsoidic is a fancy way of saying genderfluid/polygender defined as "a term for multiple-gendered people where one has many genders, but one takes the most attention and perception, leaving the others in the dark. The “darkened” genders are still present and percievable [sic], but at times the main gender may feel so bright that it’s hard to feel any other genders. The gender under the “spotlight” may change, but theres always one gender that takes up a serious majority of one’s gender experience…Pronounced Ee-Lip-SOY-dic! Like an ellipsoidal light in theatre :)1"

History of the term

Ellipsoidic was coined on February 7, 2020 by tumblr user ask-a-trendy-trans. The flag was created at the same time by amino user Purple-Soul, based on a draft by the coiner.2

I’m a tucute blogger–
I insisted I was trans,
and suffered great oppression
at the truscums’ hands.

Then I found histrigender,
and since my transness is an act,
it transformed my non-cis cred
from make-believe to fact.

The muses moved me to create
a gender as fluid as it is great;
Whenever I write smutty things
about hot male elves in Lord of the Rings,
I become a dude myself,
and my kintype switches to an elf.
But when I write about a chick,
I become a girl, too–it’s sick!
Don’t doubt me, transphobic fools,
or I will write some smut 'bout you.
