Batgender (alternative names: owlgender, moongender, nocturnalgender) is a faunagender defined as "(a gender here) is very very strong when it is dark out, but weak/nonexistent when it is light out."¹
It was coined a second time as "a xenogender/kingender that feels vampiric or batlike in nature. encompasses parts of witchery, like the moon cycle!"²

History of the term

Batgender was coined on August 24, 2014 by tumblr user passengender (who turned out to be a troll) via MOGAI-Archive.³
It was re-coined on October 27, 2019 by tumblr user elftooth. The flag was created at the same time.⁴
