There are no meanings for individual stripe colours. Rather the colours were chosen in order to reflect positivity, activity, and to “pop” out at the viewer and make it known they are present. Just like one’s gender would be if they were feeling G+

History of the term

Genderpositive was coined on June 24, 2014 (and the first flag created) in a satirical post by tumblr user allofyouguysarefuckingannoying. The terms were "reclaimed" by tumblr user askanonbinary on the same date .2 The second flag was created on or before August 28, 2015 by Pastelmemer and posted to Pride-Flags on Deviantart on that day.3

I identify as female,
just like the doctors said,
but since my gender feels present,
I use another term instead.

I am genderpositive,
so don’t call me a chick–
I’m oppressed and downtrodden,
you transphobic dick.
