Polarian (or Polargender) is a neurogender defined as "a gender for a bipolar person whose gender changes depending on what type of episode they’re experiencing . this is a gender that can only be reclaimed by people with forms of bipolar disorder."1
History of the term
Polarian was coined on November 26, 2018 by tumblr user nebularomantic. The flag was created at the same time.2
