MOGAI-Watch Poem

¿Gender

I started learning Spanish
in the 11th grade,
and though I got all Cs and Ds,
a great discovery I made–

Three hundred years or more ago,
an ancestor passed through Texas
making all my family since
honorary Latinxs.

And now with the rise of Tumblr
and these great MOGAI IDs,
I’ve found the gender that
I was always meant to be.

I am ¿gender–
don’t tell me my gender’s baseless!
If you find it funny,
you’re ¿phobic and you’re racist.
